U.S. announces extension of tariff exemptions for partial Chinese imports

Recently, the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced that it will extend the exemption of punitive tariffs for partial Chinese medical imports for another six months. Relevant tariff exemptions covering 81 health care products needed to deal with the new crown epidemic were due to expire on May 31. Products on the exempt list include hand sanitizer pump bottles, plastic containers for disinfecting wipes, fingertip pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, MRI machines and more.

 

Melbourne posts drop in cargo volumes for April

Data released by the Melbourne recently showed that the port handled a total of 255,193 TEUs in April, down 5% year-on-year. Among them, FCL transshipment decreased by 14.2% year-on-year, and the transportation volume since the beginning of the year decreased by 7.7%. The port has confirmed that it is working to reduce port congestion and improve efficiency.
